Agba heartwood is yellowish to pink-brown when first cut but quickly darkens to a brick red on exposure to light and air. The wood’s grain is normally straight or slightly wavy, but may occasionally be interlocked. Texture is fine and even with a high gloss. A broad striped figure can occasionally be found on quarter sawn surfaces. Resin pockets are fairly frequent.
