Mansonia (Mansonia Altissima) is also known as African Black Walnut. The wood tends to be a yellowish or greyish brown; the colour tends to lighten and fade with exposure to light. The grain is straight with very bland figuring. Texture is fine to medium and uniform.
Mansonia is well-known as one of the worst wood species in terms of toxicity and commonness of allergic reactions. Care should be taken to avoid inhaling or prolonged contact with dust from sawing and sanding this wood.
